நூலக மற்றும் தகவல் அறிவியல் மேம்பட்டு அமைப்பு மற்றும் தமிழ் நாடு சிறார் எழுத்தாளர் சங்கம் பிற அமைப்புகளுடன் இணைந்து நம் சமூகத்தில், குறிப்பாக இளைஞர்கள் மற்றும் சிறுவர்களிடையே வாசிப்பை பரவலாக்குவது நம் அனைவரின் கடைமை என்று எண்ணத்தில் எடுத்த முயற்சியே தமிழ் நாடு வாசிப்பு இயக்கம் ஆகும். த.நா.வா.இ விளிம்பு நிலை பகுதியில் உள்ள குழந்தைகளுக்கு சிறு நூலகங்கள் அமைத்து வாசிப்பை மேம்படுத்த பல முன்னெடுப்புகளை மேற்கொண்டுள்ளது. நகர்ப்புற எளிய மக்களுக்கான ஆதார மையம் மற்றும் மக்கள் ஊடக மையம் இதற்கான பணியில் வாசிப்பு இயக்கத்துடன் இணைந்து செயல் படுகிறது. கலை அறிவியல் கல்லூரிகள், பொறியியல் கல்லூரிகள் மற்றும் பிற நூலகங்கள் இவ்வியக்கத்தில் இணைந்து செயல்பட விருப்பம் தெரிவித்து வருகிறார்கள்.
TNRM is an initiative by the Society for the Advancement of Library and Information Science (SALIS) and Tamil Nadu Children and Artists Association (TNCWAA) along with other like-minded organizations who realize that it is a collective responsibility to take reading to all sections in the society, particularly to the youth and children. TNRM has set up small libraries for marginalized children and taking forward various activities to kindle the interest in reading by partnering with many other organsiations like Information and Resource Centre for the Deprived Urban Communities (IRCDUC) and Makkal Uudaga Maiyam. There are number of Arts and Science and Engineering Colleges and other libraries have joined this initiative.
